The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is designed to thoroughly cover essential knowledge of the world’s wines.

Level 3 Award in Wines is a requirement for WSET’s Diploma>> course. The Level 3 Award in Wines course is equivalent to the Wine & Spirit Education Trust’s >>(WSET) Level 3 Award in Wines >> level.

Who WSET Level 3 is suitable for

WSET Level 3 is necessary for those of you who use professional descriptions and evaluations of wines in your work, and find out the background of their characteristics.

The course provides an excellent foundation in product knowledge e.g., for sellers and buyers of alcohol stores, restaurant managers, Sommeliers or staff working with wine serving. The course is also suitable for wine enthusiasts, although the perspective here is professional.

Participants in the course should know the basics of wines and beverages. For example WSET Level 2>> wine course is sufficient for this.

The course material package is in English (includes e.g. the book Exploring Wines and Spirits, study guide, map and exercises).

Timetable for course Perho PRO WSET Level 3 in Wines 2025

Apart from 5 days of the face-to-face lectures students are instructed to use at least 60 hours of individual study time for a successful achievement of this qualification.

It is recommended that about 2 weeks before the lectures, the students start studying the book and Study Guide, the Level 3 specification and the Level 3 SAT. We recommend spending about 20 hours for this.

During the time of lecture weeks of the course, it is recommended to pre-study the topics for each day for about 3,5 hours.

The 3 weeks’ time before the exam we recommend at least 20 hours of well-organized individual study time for the exam.

We reserve the right to change the prices and schedule and cancel the course if there are not enough participants.

When you have successfully completed the Level 3 course exam, you will receive a certificate and a pin from WSET.

Course price

Study fee is €2.251,00 incl. VAT  25,5%, tax free price is €1.793,63. Course will be charged before it starts.

The price includes the lectures, study material and tasting wines, as well as the exam.

Course cancellation policy:

Any cancellations must be notified at least two weeks before the start of course, cancellations made after that will be charged 50% of the price of the course. If the cancellation is caused by illness (medical certificate presented), the office expenses and costs are 50 € + VAT 25,5 %. If a participant doesn’t appear and has not withdrawn his/her participation, the entire course fee will be charged. If you already got the material and you cancel your participation, we will charge material, the price is 200 € + VAT 25,5%.

WSET Level 3 in wines exam dates and registration

The exam lasts 2.5 hours and has 50 multiple choice questions and open questions. A blind tasting of two wines is also part of the exam. The exam is in English. The exam starts with a tasting at 12.30 pm and continues with the theory part at around 1.00 p.m.

The exams are only for participants in Perho PRO’s wine courses. They will have to register for the exam separately.

Resit exam prices

  • Level 3 entire resit exam €250,00 (€313,75 incl. VAT 25,5%)
  • Resit of theory section €170,00 (€213,35 incl. VAT 25,5%)
  • Tasting section resit €80,00 (€100,40 incl. VAT 25,5%)
  • VAT 25,5% is added to the prices.

You can’t attend the exam unless you have attended the WSET Level 3 course in Perho PRO.

Cancellation policy

Any cancellations must be notified not later than 14 days before the exam to sirpa.vaahti (at) perho.fi or 050 3100 787. For Subsequent cancellations or non-arrival we charge a cancellation fee of €50 + VAT 25,5% (€62,75 incl. VAT 25,5%).

Training venue

Both training and exams are held at Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College, Töölö campus: Perho PRO, Perhonkatu 10, Perhon Proffa house, 5th floor, 00100 Helsinki.

Kenelle WSET Level 2 sopii

WSET Level 2 on tarkoitettu niille, joilla on vain vähän /ei lainkaan tietoa viineistä. Se on tarpeellinen tausta jos tarvitset työssäsi kattavan ja tiiviin perustason tietopaketin juomista ja niiden taustoista.

Tämä kansainvälinen kurssi on monessa maassa välttämätön edellytys kaikille alkoholikauppojen myyjille, tukku- ja maahantuojayritysten koko henkilöstölle sekä ravintoloiden tarjoilijoille ja kokeille. Se sopii myös erinomaisesti esimerkiksi viiniharrastajille.

Sertifikaatin haltijat osaavat tulkita juomien etikettejä, antaa ohjausta sopiviin valintoihin juomien suhteen ja ennen kaikkea he hallitsevat ammattimaisen maistelutekniikan.

Sisältö

Opiskelumuoto on luennot, joihin sisältyy maistamisharjoituksia. Luennot ovat iltaisin, kesto kerralla 3,5 tuntia. Yhteensä luentoja on 15,5 tuntia.

  • Maistelutekniikka, viinin viljely ja valmistus, viiniluokitukset ja -etiketit
  • Keskeiset rypälelajikkeet: Chardonnay ja Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon ja Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc ja Riesling, Syrah ja Grenache
  • Keskeiset viinimaat: Ranska, Italia, Espanja, Portugali,  Saksa, USA, Chile, Argentiina, Etelä-Afrikka, Australia ja Uusi-Seelanti
  • Samppanja ja muut kuohuviinit, Sherry, Port ja vastaavat väkevät viinit

Kurssimateriaalipaketti sisältää mm. englanninkielisen oppikirjan, opiskeluoppaan ja harjoitustehtäviä.

Mikäli kurssille osallistujissa on englanninkielisiä, kurssi luennoidaan englanniksi.  If there are English speakers among the course participants, the course will be lectured in English.

Kurssin hinta ja peruutusehdot

  • Opiskelumaksu on  969 € sis. alv 25,5 %, veroton hinta 772,11 €.

Hintaan sisältyy suomenkieliset luennot, englanninkielinen kurssimateriaalipaketti ja maisteltavat viinit sekä tentti (englanninkielinen).

Mahdollisista peruutuksista on ilmoitettava viimeistään kaksi viikkoa ennen koulutuksen alkua, tämän jälkeen tapahtuvista peruutuksista veloitamme 50 % kurssin hinnasta. Jos peruutuksen syynä on sairaus (lääkärintodistus esitettävä), veloitamme toimistokulut 50 € + alv 25,5 %. Jos osallistuja jää saapumatta eikä ole perunut osallistumistaan, veloitamme koko kurssimaksun. Tentti

WSET Level 2 -tentin ja uusintatentin ajankohta

Tunnin mittainen tentti sisältää 50 monivalintakysymystä. Opiskelijat tekevät tentin Suomessa, mutta se tarkastetaan Lontoossa. Tentti on englanninkielinen.

  • seuraava tentti 29.9.2025 klo 15.00.

Näihin tentteihin saavat osallistua vain WSET Level 2 -kurssille Perho PROssa osallistuneet.

Uusintatentin hinta

  • WSET uusintatentin hinta on 130 € (+ alv 25,5 %), 163,15 € (sis. alv. 25,5 %). Mikäli haluat uusia tentin, ota yhteyttä Sirpa Vaahtiin, sirpa.vaahti (at) perho.fi.

Peruutusehdot

Mahdollisista peruutuksista on ilmoitettava 14 päivää ennen tenttiä sirpa.vaahti (at) perho.fi tai  050 3100 787. Myöhemmistä peruutuksista tai saapumatta jättämisestä veloitamme peruutusmaksun 50 € (+ alv 25,5 %).
