WSET Level 1 Award in Beer

Have you ever wondered what makes a beer an IPA or a Pilsner? Or what’s the difference between a brown ale and a porter? WSET’s Level 1 Beer Training is a basic training course for anyone who wants to know more about the different beer styles.

After this training you will know the basics of beer brewing, beer styles, serving beer and pairing beer with food. Those who successfully complete the training will receive an internationally recognised certificate of competence. Best of all, it makes exploring the world of beer even more interesting.

What will you learn?

In WSET Level Beer 1 you will learn the basics of beer. You will learn how to evaluate beer organoleptically by sight, smell and taste. You will learn about different beer styles and the principles of beer making.

If you work with beer, you’ll be more comfortable discussing beer and recommending the right drinks for the customer. If you’re an enthusiast, you’ll learn to enjoy each beer more and choose the right drink for your glass.

Implementation

Eight hours of instructor-led study and a 45-minute exam. The training will take place at Perho PRO’s premises at Perhonkatu 10, Helsinki.

The price includes printed study material from WSET (in English), tasting notes and an exam (in English). The final exam consists of 30 multiple-choice questions and takes 45 minutes to complete. The exams will be examined by WSET in London.

Level 1 Award in Beer training price 295 € + VAT 25,5 % (370,23 €).

Preliminary requirements

There are no prerequisites for this course. Participants must be at least 18 years old to participate in the tasting part of the course. WSET Beer Level 1 does not include a tasting test, so it is possible to complete this level even if you cannot or do not want to taste beer.
