WSET Level 2 Award in Wines

WSET’s Level 2 Award in Wines is aimed at beginners and slightly more advanced. It is suitable for professionals and wine enthusiasts.

At Wine School Perho PRO, the lecturers of the course are three Finnish experts with a Master of Wine degree.

Who WSET Level 2 is for

This degree is designed for beginners who want to learn systematically and extensively about a variety of wines. You will learn about the most important grape varieties in the world, as well as the regions where they are grown and the wine styles they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you will explore the factors that affect style and quality and learn to describe these wines with confidence. During the course, about 40 different wines will be tasted.

How environmental factors, grape cultivation, winemaking and ageing options affect the style and quality of wines made from eight pear varieties:

• Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio/Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah/Shiraz

Style and quality of wines:

• 22 regionally important grape varieties
• Over 70 Aluhence Regions Around the World

How grape varieties and winemaking processes affect the main styles:

• Sparkling wines
• Fortified wines

Key Marking Terms Used to Indicate Origin, Style, and Quality

Principles and processes related to the storage and serving of wine

Principles of pairing food and wine

This course requires 28 hours of active study time:

• 16 hours of lectures and tastings
• 11 hours of self-study and repetition
• 1-hour exam

Course price

The price of the course is 969 € (incl. VAT 25,5 %).

The course price includes lectures, course materials and an exam in English.

Price of a the WSET Level 2 resit exam
