WSET Level 3 Award in Wines

WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is an advanced level qualification for professionals working in the wine industry and for wine enthusiasts.

Who WSET Level 3 is for

For individuals seeking to delve deeper into the world of wines, this qualification provides a detailed understanding of grape growing and wine making. Upon completion you will be able to assess wines accurately, and use your understanding to confidently explain wine style and quality. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

WSET Level 3 Award in Wines  is an entry requirement to study WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines.

What you’ll learn

Unit 1

The key factors in the production of wine: location, grape growing, winemaking, maturation and bottling

How these key factors influence the key characteristics of the principal

• still wines of the world
• sparkling wines of the world
• fortified wines of the world

How to apply your understanding to explain wine style and quality

Unit 2

How to taste wines, describe their characteristics and evaluate their quality, using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT), link to material

Course delivery

This qualification has a minimum requirement of 84 hours of study time, including 35 hours of classroom delivery at Wine School Perho PRO.

At Perho PRO WSET Level 3 Award in Wines you will also get access to online course service, where you can recap course themes and test your knowledge.

Assessment

Unit 1 is assessed by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions and a short-written answer paper. Unit 2 is assessed by a blind tasting of two wines.

Entry requirements

It is recommended that you hold the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines or can demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge.

Course price

Course price is €2.251,00 (VAT  25,5% included).

WSET Level 3 resit prices

The price includes the lectures, study material, online service and tasting sample wines, as well as the exam.

Resit exam prices

• entire resit exam €370,00 (incl. VAT 25,5%)
• Resit of theory section only €220,00 (incl. VAT 25,5%)
• Tasting section resit €150,00 (incl. VAT 25,5%)
